The 7 Best Gin Cocktails

Gin is one of the most popular types of alcohol in the world, and it’s enjoyed by all types of people from your everyday joe to celebrities, movie stars, and even royalty! But what if you want to branch out beyond just drinking your gin straight up? We’ve rounded up our seven favourite flavoured welsh gin cocktails that are perfect for your next night in with friends or date night at home!

1) Gin Fizz

The gin fizz is an old-fashioned cocktail, first written about in 1876. It’s a refreshing combination of citrus and carbonation, with a zing from ginger beer. And, of course, it can’t be complete without an injection of gin. Because who doesn’t love gin?

2) Tom Collins

The Tom Collins is a classic gin cocktail that’s easy to make, fruity and refreshing. It uses a mixture of gin and lemon juice as its base—other ingredients include sugar syrup and club soda. As for garnish, most recipes call for a slice of lemon (and sometimes an orange slice too).

3) Gin Gimlet

A true classic and a favourite of many, a gimlet is a delicious and refreshing gin cocktail made from the best gin and lime cordial. The most simple way to make one at home is to pour equal amounts of gin and cordial into a glass with ice. Stir, adding more ice as necessary, garnish with lime juice or zest if you wish and serve!

4) Gin Martini

The world’s most famous gin cocktail is also one of its simplest. The classic Martini recipe calls for three parts gin to one part dry vermouth, although a few other ingredients have become commonplace, including olive brine and lemon juice. To make a classic Martini at home: Chill 1 oz. (2 Tbsp.) each gin and dry vermouth in ice-filled shaker until very cold; strain into chilled cocktail glass; add 1–2 oz.

5) Negroni

The Negroni is an equal parts cocktail containing gin, vermouth and Campari. A traditional recipe calls for 1 part gin, 1 part sweet vermouth and 1 part Campari. Many bartenders consider it a benchmark of skill to be able to make a perfect Negroni. An equal parts cocktail is usually shaken over ice, but we prefer to stir it with large cubes so as not to water down any of its perfectly balanced flavours.

6) Hanky Panky

Made with gin, Cointreau, sweet vermouth and orange bitters, Hanky Panky is one of history’s best-known cocktails. According to legend, it was first mixed in New York City at Harry’s New York Bar during prohibition—though a London bar called Dukes claims to have created it first. No matter who came up with it, no party is complete without a few of these… well… hanky panky cocktails in hand.

7) Gin Gin Mule

If you’re looking for a refreshing cocktail with a hint of mint and citrus, look no further than The gin gin mule. This simple recipe is made with just four ingredients (gin, lime juice, ginger beer and garnished with a wedge of lime) but you can always make it your own by adjusting measurements. Some recipes call for more or less lemon or ginger beer depending on your taste buds. You can also try experimenting with different brands of gin to get an even more unique flavour.

In conclusion, gin is a versatile spirit that can be mixed with almost any ingredient you can think of. These seven cocktails are just a few ways to mix up your regular gin-and-tonic routine. Whether you’re looking for something fresh or new, all these recipes are sure to offer you some delight and add some sparkle to your evening!
